Las Vegas paramedics’ union calls off strike

The Associated Press

LAS VEGAS—A union representing paramedics in southern Nevada says it has called off a strike and hopes to return to negotiations with the area’s largest ambulance company.

The Service Employees International Union Local 1107 issued a statement Friday saying it had rescinded the strike notification. The union says it hopes to resume contract talks with American Medical Response before the end of next month.

The union had threatened a walkout the day after Thanksgiving. Its contract with American Medical Response expired Oct. 31.

The company provides about 60 percent of patient transports in Clark County and the city of Las Vegas.
