COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. -- A paramedic with the Cooperstown Volunteer Fire Department Emergency Squad recently logged the 7,000th call of his career.
Fred Lemister, 61, of Cooperstown, said he had no idea which emergency call put him past the milestone.
“I don’t do numbers,” said Lemister, the emergency medical service coordinator for Otsego County. “The first I knew about it, the chief came up and said congratulations.”
The Cooperstown emergency squad covers 60 square miles, including the village of Cooperstown, Otsego Lake and the surrounding area.
