Rumors Surround Ambulance Authority Proposal in W. Va.

BECKLEY, W.Va. — Plans for a countywide ambulance authority are still very much in the talking phase, despite rampant rumors to the contrary, according to Monroe County Commission President Shane Ashley.

The notion of a unified system is being explored, Ashley confirmed at Wednesday’s commission session, but cautioned, “It’s years away.”

Bruce L. Power Sr., director of the county’s 911 center, said emergency workers in the Peterstown area have been questioning him lately about the rumored agency.
