DETROIT, Mich. — Mayor Dave Bing and Penkse CEO Roger Penske announced Monday morning that the city will get 100 new police and EMS vehicles thanks to $8 million in corporate contributions.
“These unprecedented partnerships are proof of what can happen when we join forces,” said Bing.
Penske said the agreement came after meeting with the mayor on public safety six weeks ago, and that he expects it to have an “immediate and lasting impact,” once the new vehicles hit the streets, which will take between 60-90 days for the police vehicles and 120-160 days for EMS.
