COLUMBIA TWP., Mich. — Two people suffered injuries that were not serious Tuesday in a crash involving a Reading Emergency Unit ambulance at U.S. 127 and Jefferson Road.

The ambulance was heading north, with its emergency lights and siren activated, when a car heading east on Jefferson Road struck it about 3:20 p.m., state police Trooper John Richards said.

Richards said the ambulance driver slowed to check for traffic as she drove through the red light at the border of Columbia and Liberty townships but did not see the Suzuki SX4, which “came out of no where.”
