GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A motorcyclist who tried to slow down for an ambulance was killed Sunday when his motorcycle collided with it, Gwinnett County police said.
James Edward Malone, 57, of Lawrenceville was traveling east on Grayson Highway near Wheat Grass Way when he saw the ambulance, with its lights and siren on, coming from the opposite direction.
Police said Malone lost control of his motorcycle while braking; it ran into the westbound lane --- where it collided with the ambulance.
Malone was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center where he died.
The patient who was in the ambulance did not suffer any additional injuries in the collision, which occurred about 12:50 p.m., said Cpl. Darren Moloney.
In the past month, two other people have been killed in motorcycle wrecks in Gwinnett County, and an off-duty police officer was hurt.
