LAUDERHILL, Fla. — Authorities say an ambulance with sirens blaring and lights flashing was struck at an intersection while responding to a call early Saturday morning in Lauderhill.

A Toyota SUV traveling through the intersection at NW 50th Street and University Drive collided with the ambulance on the passenger side, said Jeff Levy assistant chief for Lauderhill Fire Department.

The ambulance then ran into the front of a Volkswagon sedan.

Tiffany Harper, 19, was waiting at the light in the sedan when the accident happened.

I saw “the car over there try and beat the ambulance and next thing I know the ambulance is coming towards me,” she said.

Two paramedics were driven to the hospital with minor injuries. No one else was injured in the accident.

Lauderhill police did not provide details on the driver of the SUV.
