2 EMS providers, patient hurt after W.Va. ambulance crashes into creek

PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. — Two EMS providers and a patient were injured after an ambulance veered off the road and into a creek Monday.

The Teays Valley Fire Department ambulance was transporting a dialysis patient when the vehicle left the road and struck a telephone pole before crashing into the creek bed.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Department told the Charleston Gazette-Mail the driver of ambulance fell asleep at the wheel.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and transported all three to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries, reported WSAZ.

The crash is still under investigation.
