Donation Comes Before Southwest Even Begins Service
In partnership with the Salt Lake City Fire Department, Southwest Ambulance will donate two Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to the Road Home Homeless Shelter in downtown Salt Lake City on March 16, 2006 at 2 PM. Media are encouraged to attend the short presentation. The donations come weeks before Southwest begins serving the Ambulance transportation needs to the City in partnership with the Salt Lake City Fire Department.
“The Fire Department was telling us about a shelter they unfortunately visit too often,” said Jeff Sargent, Chief Operating Officer of Southwest Ambulance. “While our Salt Lake City dedicated ambulances are expected to result in faster responses to emergencies within the City, automated defibrillators are a safe and easy tool for shelter workers to help save a visitor’s life while the ambulance and fire department is on the way.”
“It’s great to see Southwest jump right in and start contributing within our community even before they begin service,” said Scott Freitag, Public Information Officer for the Salt Lake City Fire Department.
Southwest Ambulance donated the AEDs, and the Salt Lake City Fire Department will conduct the AED training for shelter employees.
