BROOKFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A Brookfield man was in Trumbull County Jail Friday after calling 911 multiple times without an emergency.
Robert Thomas Alverson, 54, of 7195 Wildwood Drive, was charged with disrupting public service after Brookfield police said he made 10 calls to 911 for non-emergencies between July 12 and Dec. 5.
Police said officers were called twice Thursday to Alverson’s address for non-emergencies.
Police said Alverson was warned earlier in the day. At that time, he called twice to tell the dispatcher that he needed to stop drinking, but he liked drinking. He then told the dispatcher that if she met him in a bar that she would think he was the most enchanting guy in the world, but is the worst drunk ever. He said he was trying to call 211 instead of 911 and was given a warning.
On Nov. 13, police said Alverson called 911 and said there was no emergency and that he was just testing his theory on 911 and hung up.
On Oct. 31, police said, Alverson called 911 and told the dispatcher that he was going to give trick-or-treaters slices of bologna. He then said he almost had a heart attack from laughing so hard. He said there was no emergency and that police could charge him for calling if they wanted to. He was given another warning on the proper use of 911.
On Thursday, after two calls to 911 that were not emergencies, police said they went to Alverson’s home and arrested him.
