Pa. hospital announces end to EMS care

They hope to work with local organizations that already provide basic services to transition services to the communities

GETTYSBURG, Pa. — WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital will end its emergency medical services to the Adams County community, according to an email sent by WellSpan Health Senior Vice President Jane Hyde.

The discontinuation includes the medical technicians WellSpan leases to three area fire companies, including services based in Gettysburg, Littlestown and Bendersville, according to the email.

WellSpan hopes to work with the 10 local organizations that already provide basic services to transition services to the communities, the email stated. “We believe that our role must change,” Hyde said. “We recognize our current role as the primary provider of these services in the county, but we must continue to evaluate ways to develop a sustainable, community-led model for the future.”
