BUFFALO, N.Y. — With a strike set to begin in a little over a week, executives at Rural/Metro Medical Services of Western New York are hoping to avoid a work stoppage but plan to continue coverage of emergency medical services.
Teamsters Local 375 on Friday issued a 10-day notice to strike on July 16. The notice came days after workers voted overwhelmingly to reject a proposed labor agreement by a margin of 99 percent.
In a media release issued today, Rural/Metro Division General Manager Jay Smith said the company remains committed to negotiating a fair deal.
