BRAINERD, Minn. A woman who went into cardiac arrest and was revived by paramedics four times on the way to the hospital was reunited with the EMS providers who saved her life.
Duluth News Tribune reports that in July 2018, Karla Milinovich was visiting friends when she fell ill and decided to take a nap before dinner. Instead of waking up, her husband heard noises coming from the bedroom and realized something was wrong.
John Milinovich started CPR efforts until Brainerd North Memorial Ambulance personnel arrived on scene. Karla received CPR for 45 minutes and, by the time she reached St. Cloud hospital, she had flatlined four times.
After 22 days in the hospital, Karla was able to go home, and now, almost a year later, Milinovich is back in town to thank EMT James Stultz and Paramedic Brandon Larson .
“You guys were so good and it could have gone the opposite way, so easily, so many times,” Karla said. “I am like a miracle child. It’s such an event to be brought back to life more than once. There are not enough words to explain (how) thankful I am. I’m here for a reason, I didn’t go away. I am lucky. I had angels all around me and you guys were my angels.”
