COURTNEY, N.C. — A firefighter-EMT saved an elementary school’s American flag after a tornado last week.
WBIR.com reported that the Courtney Volunteer Fire Station was dispatched to an elementary school after reports of a tornado and about two dozen people still at the school.
After making sure everyone at the school was safe and attended to, firefighter-EMT Tori McEwen saw the school’s flag on the ground. Her husband, who served in the Army and completed four deployments, also works for the volunteer fire department.
She took the time to properly roll it up for safe keeping.
