WASHINGTON — The Yonkers City Fire Department will receive $449,000 in federal funding while the Valhalla Volunteer Ambulance Corps will receive $29,000 to train first responders and purchase new equipment.
The money was allocated through FEMA’s Assistance to Firefighters grant program. Yonkers will use the money to train first responders on the management of pediatric emergencies. Valhalla will use its funding to purchase two cardio compression devices for first responders used to administer CPR.
The grants were announced by US Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand.
