WASHINGTON — NHTSA’s Office of EMS has scheduled a webinar to discuss the new guidelines for teaching mass casualty triage.
In a press release, Teaching Mass Casualty Triage: Implementing the New MUCC Instructional Guidelines was announced, which is a webinar that will teach EMS leaders how to improve coordination in mass casualty incident situations.
MUCC created a standard set of guidelines to follow, and the webinar will instruct EMS leaders on how to teach these guidelines to EMS personnel.
Dr. E. Brooke Learner, a former EMS field provider and researcher at the Medical College of Wisconsin who helped develop MUCC, or the Model Uniform Core Criteria for Mass Casualty Incident Triage, will speak in the webinar, along with Kandra Strauss-Riggs with the National Center for Disaster Medicine and Public Health, who teamed up with NHTSA to develop the guidelines and Leaugeay Barnes, an EMS educator who piloted the use of the instructional guidelines.
The webinar, hosted by NHTSA Office of EMS member Gam Wijetunge, will take place Feb. 7 at 1 p.m. EST. Click here to register.
