Patients hit, spit at W.Va. EMS providers after waking up

The two individuals were charged with battery of a governmental representative and obstructing an officer, according to a report filed in Cabell County Magistrate Court

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Two men are facing charges in Cabell County after they assaulted EMS providers Sunday, WCHS reported.

Brayden John Womack, 19, and Jacob Christopher Ashworth, 19, were charged, according to a criminal complaint filed in Cabell County Magistrate Court.

According to the complaint, providers reportedly found Womack passed out in the front seat of a vehicle. Upon awaking, he attempted to hit and spit at EMS providers. Police officers arrived and reported that Womack also was uncooperative with them.

Ashworth woke up, became aggressive and tried to grab a gun. He also reportedly spat at and tried to hit the EMS providers.

Officers gained control of the two men, who were charged with battery of a governmental representative and obstructing an officer. In addition, Ashworth was charged with unlawful used of a license or nonoperator’s identification.
