CLEVELAND — A man is charged in the armed carjacking of a Cleveland paramedic at the EMS union hall in the city’s Tremont neighborhood.
Darion Bond, 19, is charged with aggravated robbery. He is being held in the Cuyahoga County Jail on $100,000 bond after his first court appearance Monday, according to court records.
Bond is accused of robbing the 35-year-old paramedic about 2:30 p.m. July 18 at the EMS union hall on Professor Street near Starkweather Avenue, police reports state.
The paramedic parked his Ford Escape in the parking lot. When he got out, a robber ran up to him and put a gun in his face.
The robber stole the paramedic’s keys, wallet and phone before he got into the paramedic’s SUV and sped away. The paramedic’s gun was in the SUV when it was stolen.
Police found the stolen SUV two days later when it crashed into another car on East 149th Street north of Waterloo Avenue, in the Collinwood neighborhood.
The man driving the SUV whipped around a corner and smashed into the other car. The driver then got out of the SUV and ran away.
