DANVERS, Mass. — A Danvers resident who works as a Topsfield police officer spoke before state lawmakers last week urging them to support a new bill aimed at penalizing the impersonation of an emergency medical technician.
House bill 1737 would prohibit the “falsification or impersonation of an emergency medical technician and/or paramedic.” If passed it would carry the same penalty, $400 or a year in jail, for impersonating a police officer, sheriff or medical examiners.
Officer Neal Hovey was before the Joint Committee on the Judiciary where he testified on the bill submitted by state Rep. Ted Speliotis, D-Danvers.
