EPPING, N.H. — A state trooper and Epping police officer are being praised for successfully reviving a man who suffered a “massive heart attack” outside the Walmart store on Route 125.

According to state police, trooper Christopher Prenaveau was off-duty and exiting the Walmart around 3:30 p.m. Friday when he noticed a crowd gathered around a man on the ground. Prenaveau approached and determined the man was unconscious, not breathing and had no pulse.

Prenaveau began CPR and instructed a witness who had called 911 to continue speaking with the emergency operator to provide information.

Epping police officer Donald Ross arrived a few moments later, pulled an automated external defibrillator unit from his cruiser; he and Prenaveau used the device on the heart attack victim.

According to state police, the man regained a pulse; he was taken to Exeter Hospital by Epping Fire and Ambulance.

As of Sunday, the victim, whose identity was not released, remained at the hospital in good condition. He is expected to make a full recovery, according to state police.

State Police Lt. Christopher Vetter said Prenaveau had just attended in-service “first aid” training sponsored by the NH Fire Academy, which included up-to-date CPR training.
