Launched in 2004, NPM is FEMA’s national annual preparedness outreach. Readiness is a shared responsibility, and FEMA asks all Americans to make the pledge to prepare this month and truly help themselves, their neighbors and their communities be Ready. As a critical component of our local community and state disaster preparedness and response team, EMS should actively participate in this event. The new National Preparedness Month Toolkit can help you and your agency get ready. The 2013 Toolkit includes suggestions for activities and events that state, local, tribal and territorial governments, business, non-governmental organizations, and community organizations can use to promote NPM. This toolkit also includes templates and drafts of newsletter articles, blogs, posters, and other collateral material that you are able to use in various outreach efforts.
