London Ambulance Service has 5th busiest week for serious calls

With an increase in life-threatening calls, officials are asking the public to only dial 999 for emergencies

LONDON — London Ambulance Service (LAS) experienced its fifth busiest week ever for attending the most serious incidents in Hillingdon last week.

Bosses are pleading with the public only to dial 999 for emergencies, after one person called because he had a tissue stuck in his ear.

Last week, LAS attended 382 Category A incidents – those that are serious or life-threatening – in the borough. Throughout November crews dealt with a total of 1,552 Category A calls in Hillingdon – 7.8 per cent more than in the same month last year.
