MORRISTOWN, N.J. — A former EMT from Wharton was placed on two years’ probation today after he admitted shaking his then 6-month-old son and injuring him.
Lawrence Biehler, 34, was initially charged with aggravated assault and child endangerment after allegedly causing head and eye injuries to the child, but he pleaded guilty last month to a reduced charge of child neglect.
In giving Biehler a sentence that will involve no jail time, Judge Robert Gilson in Morristown said the boy has a “serious medical condition” but “fortunately, the child suffered no long-term effects” from the shaking incident in February 2012.
