STREETSBORO — A life-saving tool has been acquired by the Streetsboro Fire Department.
The city purchased a robot-like device that performs chest compressions when people go into cardiac arrest.
The device, called a Lucas 2 Heart Monitor, arrived at the fire department in early May. It cost the city about $15,000, Fire Chief Robert Reinholz said.
The battery operated, 25-pound device wraps around the top of a victim’s torso, then a small cylinder beats down on the chest 100 times every minute.
