SAN DIEGO — A newborn and his family stopped by a fire station to meet the firefighter-paramedics who delivered him.
NBC San Diego reported that Timothy Fleming, who is four months old, was dressed in a firefighter onesie as he, his parents Shana and Matthew Fleming and their 4-year-old daughter Zoey posed for pictures at San Diego Fire Station 12.
In May, San Diego Fire-Rescue crews helped deliver Timothy after Shana’s water broke in her bedroom.
“I can’t move. We’re not going anywhere,” she told her husband. “If I get out of this house to the car, it’s going to happen in the car.”
SDFD arrived within minutes and safely delivered Timothy, despite the umbilical cord wrapping around his neck.
“Not very often that they’ll actually deliver,” SDFD Capt. Antonio David said. “A lot of times we’ll get them loaded up and they’ll deliver in the hospital.”
SDFD Chief Brian Fennessy thanked the family for visiting the department and said it was another heartwarming example of SDFD helping families in emergencies.
