RICHMOND, Va. — One man is facing multiple charges after allegedly assaulting and threatening multiple first responders.
Alphonso Brinson, 60, told one Richmond officer he “knew how to talk to and take care of” police when they responded to Madison Health and Rehab Center Saturday evening due to his making suicidal statements, according to an arrest citation. Brinson advised one officer that he would fight and shoot and spit at him, if needed.
Despite agreeing to be transported to Good Samaritan Hospital, Brinson became irate when paramedics arrived, stating that officers took his money. To stop Brinson from continuing to hit a paramedic, one officer held his arms. However, the citation states Brinson attempted to bite the officer’s hand and spat in his face.
Restrained on a stretcher for a moment, Brinson successfully connected his fist to a paramedic’s cheek before spitting on him as well, the citation notes. Once in the ambulance, Brinson landed several strikes on both the officer and paramedic riding with him.
Brinson was transported to Baptist Health Richmond, the citation states, and told first responders he would find and shoot them. After refusing to be treated or consent to blood testing, Brinson continued to threaten police.
Brinson was charged with two counts of third-degree assault of a police or probation officer, two counts of third-degree assault (EMS, fire or rescue squad) and four counts of third-degree terroristic threatening. He was booked into the Madison County Detention Center, where he remained Tuesday afternoon, according to online jail records.
