John Bebensee will never forget the hefty guy who cracked his skull jumping from a sea wall into the ocean.
Not because his injury was so severe, but because Bebensee, Boynton Beach’s ocean rescue chief, and others had to carry the man a quarter of a mile across the sand.
“That was miserable,” said Bebensee, who manages a staff of 14 rescue lifeguards who patrol the 12-acre Oceanfront Park and its wide expanse of beach.
