APOPKA, Fla. — A paramedic who found a pregnant dog outside of the fire station helped her deliver eight puppies before nursing her back to health.
FOX6 reported that Apopka Fire Department paramedic Lt. Renee Beasley found the dog outside of the station and jumped into action to deliver the puppies, seven of which survived.
“Even though she was pregnant with her belly, she was extremely underweight. She also had about nine to 12 nails in her stomach, probably from ravaging for food,” Beasley said.
After the puppies were delivered, Beasley began nursing the dog, who is now named Lady, back to health with the help of her colleagues and community.
“Our community has a huge heart and everybody’s reached out to try and help out with her, so that’s been awesome,” Beasley said. “Lady is going to end up staying with us. We’ve become very bonded with her.”
