MOUNT PLEASANT, Wisc. — An ambulance broke down this weekend with a patient inside — and not for the first time — prompting an emphatic response from Mount Pleasant trustees Monday night.
South Shore Fire Department Interim Chief Mark Pierce detailed the incident before the Village Board meeting Monday at Mount Pleasant’s 8811 Village Hall.
While responding to a call of a patient reporting chest pains Friday, the village’s ambulance “stopped running suddenly,” Pierce said. The vehicle was restarted, and continued onward to pick up the patient. Then, with the patient on board en route to the hospital, Pierce said the engine stopped running again. Once again, the engine was resuscitated and the ambulance proceeded to the hospital, by that time accompanied by a second ambulance as a precautionary measure.
