MALTA, N.Y. — A woman who survived a stroke replicated the 20-mile ambulance ride she took via bicycle Thursday.
Paula Symenski, 52, was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance when she woke up one night and couldn’t feel her arm seven years ago, a ride she credits to saving her life.
Symenski retraced the ride on her bicycle as a celebration of her survival.
“I just couldn’t believe I was doing it. I was comfortable, relaxed, healthy. It wasn’t a challenge and it was like I really have recovered,” Symenski told WNYT.
She ended her ride at the Empire State Plaza, where she participated in the “Capital Region Heart Walk” torch ceremony.
