ND agency loses half its ambulance fleet in crashes

Icy conditions hit Jamestown Area Ambulance

The Bismarck Tribune

JAMESTOWN, ND — Jamestown Area Ambulance lost two ambulances — half of its fleet — in one week because of crashes.

One vehicle crashed on icy Interstate 94 on Feb. 8 while transporting a patient to a Fargo hospital and was destroyed. Business manager Nancy Miller says the second ambulance was damaged in a collision at a Jamestown-area intersection three days later.

Miller says vehicles from an ambulance service in Fergus Falls, Minn., had to be brought in after each wreck to fill in. Ringdahl Ambulance in Fergus Falls also owns the Jamestown service.

Miller says the damaged ambulance will be in the repair shop for two or three weeks, and it will take up to four months to replace the one that was totaled.

She says she would like to “rewind the month and start over.”
