NOBLESVILLE, Ind. — Police are investigating a serious accident involving an ambulance in Hamilton County.

The crash happened before 9 a.m. in the 24000 block of State Road 37 in Noblesville.

An ambulance was transporting a dialysis patient when it crashed after hitting a slick spot on the highway.

The driver lost control and the vehicle became airborne for a short time before striking a tree and landing in a ravine, a media release said.

“The crash team has been called to the location to assist,” Hamilton County sheriff’s Deputy Bryant Orem said in a news release.

Police said the driver, the medic and the patient were all taken to Riverview Hospital in Noblesville.

The media release said the driver suffered an arm injury and abrasions, the medic had bleeding from a cut on the head and the patient sustained a head injury.

Police closed State Road 37 for two hours while investigators studied the accident scene.
