HOUSTON — Houston police are investigating an auto theft ring that may be responsible for stealing dozens of private ambulances.

Several of the stolen vehicles were found Monday morning at the Texas Port Recycling yard in the 4400 block of Creekwater. Police say it’s possible the culprits who stole the ambulances wanted quick cash, so they allegedly sold the ambulances at the scrap yard.

A group of business owners from three private EMS companies told Eyewitness News they began calling police about someone stealing ambulances about one month ago. Those private ambulance companies include Greater Houston EMS, Inc., Houston Life Care EMS, and Baytex EMS.
