Boy critically injured in UK paramedic car crash

SHEFFIELD, England — An eight-year-old boy is fighting for his life in hospital today after he was hit by a paramedic car responding to an emergency call.

The boy is reported to have run into the road in front of the Skoda Octavia vehicle as it drove towards the Firth Park Road junction in Owler Lane, Sheffield, at 6.05pm yesterday, South Yorkshire Police said.

The schoolboy, from Sheffield, suffered potentially life-threatening head injuries and suspected fractures to an ankle, nose and collarbone.

He is being treated at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

The 28-year-old female paramedic driving the car was not hurt.
