HILLSIDE, N.J. — An ambulance ran over a police officer’s foot as he struggled to arrest a combative suspect in N.J. Tuesday.
Officers Ryan Cruz and Jesse Gregorio had called for an ambulance after finding William J. Dolan with a lacerated forearm, according to NJ.com.
Dolan became restless and kicked out the cruiser’s taillight, prompting them to take him into police custody.
The man threatened the officers with his fists, and Cruz tackled him to the ground.
While they were struggling, the requested ambulance arrived and ran over Cruz’s foot with its rear wheel.
Dolan was then transported to the hospital, where he struck one responder in the face and spat blood at others.
Officer Cruz suffered lacerations and swelling to his left foot.
