DUQUESNE, Pa. — An accident in Duquesne involving an ambulance and a car sent three people to local hospitals this morning.

A car slid into a Duquesne Emergency Medical Services ambulance about 6:45 a.m. at the intersection of Route 837 and West Grant Avenue, said Lori Achtzehn, Duquesne police secretary. The ambulance was responding to call in the area of Commonwealth Avenue.

The accident occurred at the site of another accident yesterday afternoon involving a Port Authority bus that sent at least five people to the hospital.

The ambulance driver, Mary Vallus, of Duquesne, told police she had the right of way and turned left onto Route 837. The driver of the car, Brigitte Keegan of Sutersville, told police she saw the ambulance and tried to stop, but skidded on the wet road, Achtzehn said.

A third person, EMS employee Sean Dornin, was also injured.

The victims were taken to UPMC Presbyterian and UPMC Mercy with minor injuries, Achtzehn said.
