RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. — The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Department has released dash cam footage of a deputy hitting speeds of 116 miles per hour in an attempt to catch a speeding ambulance.

As News 2 first reported, two ambulances from two different counties were spotted April 6, appearing to be racing down the highway, but there was no patient onboard and no emergency.

“See if you have any officers on I-24, I guess eastbound,” said a man who called a Rutherford County dispatcher. “You got a Coffee County ambulance. He has no lights on, no sirens; nothing on. This man has to be going well over 100.”
