ARDEN ARCADE, Calif. — The California Highway Patrol is investigating after a collision involving a Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District ambulance and a black SUV after the civilian driver fled the scene.
The Sacramento Bee reported that as the ambulance driver was making a right turn, the driver of the black SUV attempted to pass the rig on the right side, causing a collision.
The SUV tried to pass the ambulance, despite it having its lights and sirens activated.
A second ambulance was called to transport the patient in the damaged ambulance to the hospital.
No injuries from the crash were reported, but the driver of the SUV fled the scene after being instructed to wait to exchange information.
One witness said identifying features were obscured because of the face mask worn by the suspect.
