WHITE COUNTY, Ind. — Two people were injured after an ambulance was hit by a semitrailer while on the scene of a crash Tuesday.

The first crash occurred after the driver of an SUV failed to see a slow-moving semitrailer and crashed into it, WLFI reported.

An EMS crew arrived on the scene, and, while parked at the location of the crash, a second semitrailer failed to slow down after seeing the ambulance with emergency lights on and crashed into the ambulance, causing significant damage to the vehicle and injuring an EMT and the SUV driver from the previous crash.

The EMT was transported to a hospital and was reported in serious condition. The SUV driver, who refused medical treatment after the first crash, was injured, treated and released from the hospital, Lafayette Journal & Courier reported.

The crash is under investigation.
