MIDLAND, Texas — Emergency crews had to rescue one of their own Monday after an ambulance, headed to the scene of a travel trailer fire on CR 1278, slid on snow and ice, left the roadway on West CR 60 and rolled over onto the roof. The paramedic driver was the only one in the vehicle and was transported to MMH for observation.
Midland firefighters and EMS responded at about 4:30 p.m. to a fire in a small recreational vehicle in a neighborhood just off West County Road 1278. An ambulance heading to the scene was on West County Road 60 and rolled onto its roof after sliding on snow and ice, according to officials at the scene.
The paramedic driver was the ambulance’s only occupant and was transported to the hospital for observation, the officials said.
The RV was vacant at the time the fire occurred, and the fire was extinguished within minutes of arrival.
