Clues sought in Ohio MedFlight shooting

Shooting at an aircraft is against federal law and is punishable by 20 years in prison and a large fine

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Central Ohio Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information about the person who fired a gun at a MedFlight helicopter in Madison County on Aug. 4.

The helicopter was flying from Marysville in Union County to Washington Court House in Fayette County when a crew member heard a thud. After landing, the crew found a bullet hole in the rear door of the helicopter.

Investigators determined that the shot had been fired from the ground. Part of the bullet was recovered on the floor of a storage compartment. No one was injured.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 614-461-8477.
