JEFFERSON COUNTY, Idaho — A Rigby man is dead and another is in critical condition after a Sunday night crash in Jefferson County flung six people from a moving vehicle.

Timothy A. Merrill, 19, of Rigby was driving a 1992 GMC pickup truck east on the Menan-Lorenzo Highway when he failed to negotiate a curve at 620 North and drove off the right shoulder.

Merrill was ejected from the vehicle along with five passengers: Keely M. Lance, 18, of Rigby; Matthew P. Walker, 19, of Menan; Trevor A. Davis, 19, of Rigby; Madison A. Holm, 17, of Roberts and Samantha M. Wood, 16, of Roberts.

None of the occupants in the truck was wearing a seat belt.

Idaho State Police officials didn’t know if the passengers were traveling in the cab or bed of the truck.

Lance was pronounced dead at the scene.

Davis was transported by air ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was listed in critical condition Monday morning.

The other four occupants were transported by ground ambulance to EIRMC. Merrill and Walker had been treated and released by Monday morning.

The hospital could not release information about Holm and Wood because of their age.

An ISP investigation continues.
