ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A plane carrying a medevac crew in Alaska made an emergency landing on a frozen lake this week, one month after two employees from the same medevac company were killed in a plane crash.
The aircraft carrying two Medevac Alaska crewmembers reportedly experienced an engine failure 15 minutes into the flight from Anchorage to New Stuyahok, according to the Anchorage Daily News. The pilot managed to land the plane on a frozen lake in a remote area and all three occupants escaped injury.
A good Samaritan picked up the pilot and crew and they were able to return safely to Anchorage. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the reported engine failure.
A flight carrying a Medevac Alaska crew crashed last month, killing Paramedic Maddox Burts, Nurse Rob Cartner and Security Aviation Pilot Glen Morthorpe. Two other companies had turned down the flight that day due to poor weather conditions.
