LEXINGTON, Ky. — A five-vehicle crash in Lexington left multiple people hospitalized Monday night, according to the Lexington Police Department.

Police said the wreck happened on Newtown Pike near Aristides Boulevard, which is in the Griffin Gate area. Lt. Meredith Taylor with the Lexington Police Department said three people — one driver and two passengers — were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Three of the vehicles sustained heavy damage, according to WKYT, the Herald-Leader’s reporting partner.

The Lexington police and fire departments were at the scene of the incident. Initial reports indicated injuries were serious.

Police didn’t comment on what types of vehicles were involved in the crash or what caused the pile-up.
