CANTON, Ohio — A crash in a southwest Canton neighborhood involving a car and an ambulance on the way to Aultman Hospital left five people at Aultman and Mercy Medical Center.

One of the victims from the car is a child, said Battalion Chief Steve Henderson of the Canton Fire Department.

Firefighters were called at 11:11 a.m. Wednesday to 11th Street and Harrison Avenue SW.

Airbags had deployed on a blue Kia Forte and the bottom of the driver’s door on the ambulance was buckled.

Henderson said the Stark Summit Ambulance was taking a passenger to Aultman Hospital and that the emergency crew on board were still treating that patient when firefighters were called to the crash scene.

The patient from the ambulance and three adults and a child from the car were all taken to area hospitals with apparent non-life-threatening injuries, Henderson said.

Their conditions were not yet available.

Crash details also were not yet available as police remained at the scene around noon, continuing to investigate.
