$500 reward offered in Va. ambulance hit-and-run

A white Ford F-250 crew cab with a black flatbed is believed to have struck a Little Fork Volunteer Fire & Rescue ambulance responding to a call, then driven off

RIXEYVILLE, Va. — A $500 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction of a motorist accused of crashing into an ambulance and taking off.

The wreck between the pickup truck and an emergency vehicle from Little Fork Volunteer Fire & Rescue occurred at about 6:36 p.m. on Feb. 3 near the intersection of Rixeyville Road and Waterford Road in Rixeyville, according to a fire department release.

The ambulance was responding to an emergency call when the truck collided with it, stopped for a minute, and then fled west on Waterford Road, the release stated.

Officials believe the fleeing vehicle was a white Ford F-250 or larger crew cab with a black flatbed and a stake body with swinging rear gates, possibly with wood or steel walls, black in color. The driver’s side will be damaged, as well as the very bottom of the driver’s mirror, according to the release.

Chief Doug Monaco said no one was injured. He estimated the ambulance’s damage at $15,000.
