NEW YORK — An NYPD officer was praised for his resourcefulness after he used unconventional tools to help a stabbing victim earlier this month.

The officer, identified as Ronald Kennedy, was credited with saving the man’s life using only an empty chip bag and a few pieces of tape.

In bodycam video posted on Thursday, NYPD officers are seen surrounding a bleeding man during the July 7 incident. Kennedy is heard telling someone to fetch a bag of potato chips and tape from a nearby convenience store.

The officer empties the bag of chips and tapes it over the victim’s bleeding chest.

“It’s the best I could do with what I had,” Kennedy is heard saying.

At some point later another responder replaces the chip bag with a more conventional patch.

According to the NYPD, hospital officials said Kennedy’s actions likely saved the victim’s life.
