TRURO, Canada — An elderly driver is dead after an ambulance crossed a highway median near Truro and struck his car.
Arthur Lawson Carter, 78, of Truro was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident Sunday on Highway 102.
The RCMP say the ambulance was travelling southbound when it went out of control, crossed the median and struck Carter’s oncoming car.
Two paramedics in the ambulance were taken to hospital with minor injuries and released.
A patient, who was being transferred from Sydney to Halifax, also received minor injuries.
Police say the road was wet and clear at the time, with a light drizzle falling.
