‘Didn’t seem real’: Retired N.C. paramedic wins $100K on lottery scratch-off
Randy Boggs' winnings came after he purchased a $30 scratch-off, shocking both him and his wife

ALEXANDER, N.C. — A retired paramedic recently won $100,000 after purchasing a $30 Millionaire Maker scratch-off in a neighboring town, the Charlotte Observer reported.
“It really didn’t seem real,” Randy Boggs told lottery officials. “I was kind of in denial for a couple of days about it.”

His wife was also skeptical about his winnings.
“She just kept looking at it,” he said, “but she finally came around.”
After taxes, Boggs took home $71,019 in total winnings, which he plans to use to pay bills and pad his savings.
“With us both on retirement, this is going to help out a whole lot,” he said.
