ITALY, Texas — A paramedic who was the first to reach a seriously injured girl at a high school shooting described her as “the bravest girl” he’d ever seen.

KWTX reported that paramedic Charles Hyles rushed to Italy High School after a shooting in the cafeteria and began stabilizing Noelle Jones, who was shot in the neck and abdomen.

“Please don’t let me die,” Jones said to Hyles, who assured her that she wouldn’t.

Hyles helped first responders load Jones into a helicopter to be transported to the hospital, and he later visited her and described her as “the bravest girl I’ve ever seen in all my years of experience.”

According to a GoFundMe page set up for Jones, she is facing “a lengthy hospital stay with multiple surgeries as well as an extended amount of time in physical rehabilitation.”

The unnamed shooter is currently in a juvenile detention center and is charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
